WHO WE ARE

MATT GARDNER

Matt has almost 20 years of experience in real estate development. Before founding Imagine1 in 2013, he was responsible for predevelopment activities, including entitlement and city relations, design management, financial underwriting, and market selection for Southern Land Company. Additionally, he was their lead developer on several mixed use projects across the US. At Andover Capitol Group for the majority of his early career, he gained significant experience in the pre-development of hospitality and multifamily projects; as well as single-family construction and horizontal development.
A lifelong Nashvillian, Matt earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Political Science Minor) from Texas A&M University in 2004. He subsequently earned both a Master’s of Civil Engineering (Construction Management) and Master’s of Science in Finance from Vanderbilt University in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

BRIAN HEUSER

As part of his family’s third generation construction and electrical supply and design firm, Brian had a toolkit strapped to his overalls before he was in second grade. Summer jobs with his parents’ clients and subs – who were among the best in the area – became par for the course. Brian graduated from Furman University, wherein he honed his knowledge of political economy and Chinese language. After serving as a teaching fellow in political science and economic development, Brian returned to Florida to join the family business. The knowledge economy called him back and he completed two graduate degrees at Vanderbilt University with distinction, including his doctorate in administration. With significant expertise in organizational performance management, Brian knows how to bring a project home on time with value added. He has consulted for some of the largest firms in the State – from healthcare to higher education – on how to better align their intended goals with the resources necessary to achieve them. He currently holds a full-time faculty position at the Peabody College at Vanderbilt University where he also helps the University better manage and assess their institutional data.
